First Semester Mid-Semester Halls Tickets Available

Hi MSSS Aspirants,

The First Semester Mid-Semester Halls Tickets are available and the link to download the same has been mailed to the personal e-mail id registered with BITS-Pilani and also at Sandesh email account.
Please check, if not done yet!

Action-Items:
1. Download the Hall-Ticket and take a print-out of the same. It needs to be brought at the venue.
2. Check the venue details.

• If the venue location is in the same city then make yourself knowledgeable of the location. Visit personally before the exam if possible.
• If the venue location is in an another city then make arrangements for the travel in advance. 

3. Make sure that you are aware of the mid-semester syllabus and are not ignoring any topic. Click here for more information. 

4. Check out the previous years paper. On checking the WILP Website we could not find any such link available as of now! Keep on checking the same!!

VGA And DVI-D Dual Display Configuration

Hi,

At my current workplace, I have to work on Windows XP and Linux Enterprise running on 2 different machines simultaneously. It is quite a pain to work on a pair of keyboard and a pair of mouse on the desk. With the Laptop (XP) docked and then the keyboard and mouse connected to it via USB and the addition of the keyboard and mouse of the Linux Machine, the desk looks like a plate full of spaghetti. But then just a single 22 inch LED monitor on the desk is a relief. Now in order to bring a order to this mess, I thought to innovate!!

The LED monitors are manufactured to accommodate twin display settings(click here). One is Video Graphics Array (VGA) and the other is Digital Visual Interface - Digital (DVI-D). Very seldom does one makes use of both the connectivity features. So I did a bit a research and then contacted the IT-Admin to set-up the VGA to the Laptop and the DVI-D to the Linux Machine.

From then on we three are living happily ever after!

Hi,

After I started to work on a development project at my current workplace, a workstation with Linux Enterprise 5 was provisioned for the same. I was required to have a YPMaster Login for the same in the NIS Server. Yes I know that one may find a lots to read on the topic of NIS Server. But one thing caught on to my curiosity!! What was YP? I tried my best to guess it out on my own, but I could not get much! There were not many Technical words in English starting with the Letter Y.

After much research on the internet, finally I found that it expands to "Yellow Pages"!!  More on it, here.

Curiosity kills the crow, but then the crow was never on Linux!!
